Thymox Disinfectant Spray, a ready to use disinfectant, is the first of Laboratoire M2’s products to be registered in the U.S. It is a crucial step in the deployment of this technology. The registration covers many markets, like health care, farms, industrial, institutional and household.
This disinfectant-cleaner, which has thymol (0,23%) as an active ingredient, is based on an essential oils technology and is effective against bacteria after a contact time of 2 minutes, against fungi after a contact time of 3 minutes and against viruses* after a contact time of 1 minute. It can be used on surfaces such as ceramic, glass, marble, stainless steel, plastic and aluminium.
The EPA registration number of Thymox Disinfectant Spray is 87742-1.
As part of the Sustainable Green Chemistry Symposium which was held in Anjou on November 16, the CQVB handed the first ever 2011 Green Chemistry Innovation award, to Laboratoire M2 of Sherbrooke.
The innovative technology platform developed by Laboratoire M2 has created a range of natural disinfection products. To date, six products are marketed and 8 are being developed. The continuous R & D efforts enable the firm to form a significant competitive advantage on the “cleaning” market thanks to a variety of green natural products.
“Laboratoire M2 is honored to receive the 2011 Green Chemistry Innovation Award given by the CQVB. This award recognizes the efforts we have made since 2003, to develop disinfectants products that fall within the concept of sustainable development that is globally recognized” says Serge Auray, president of Laboratoire M2.
Seven innovative projects were submitted to the new Green Chemistry Innovation Award, highlighting disinfection products, green solvents, industrial cleaners, grout and mortar systems, industrials films, resins and therapeutic peptides.
Les Spécialités LEN of Granby and Produits chimiques Magnus of Boucherville where among the finalists. Les Spécialiste LEN have developed a new cleaning product that is completely biodegradable that can replace fossil fuel solvents with products that are non-toxic and harmless to the health of workers. Produits chimiques Magnus, meanwhile, have developed a new line of industrial cleaners that safely clean, remove rust and descale.
A first in Quebec!
Wanting to further stimulate the development of bioproducts, including green chemistry, in Quebec, the CQVB launched the Green Chemistry Innovation Award. This Award is meant to recognize the innovation capacity of SME’s in Quebec that stand out for the development of new markets in the field of industrial bioproducts in Quebec as well as internationnally.

Laboratoire M2 joins the hardware network of Unimat of the Coop fédérée for the distribution of the disinfectant THYMOX.
